Η γκαλερί Vamiali’s εγκαινιάζει
My friend Dina, asked from me to make a bookcase for her brother Antonis as a birthday gift. Antonis has a warm country styled home located in a villlage. It is a really huge bookcase, totally handmade-the covers of the radiators are handcrafted too- of painted ash wood. The offwhite colour makes that huge construction seem less heavy..
Here is one of my favorites: It is a bedroom of two brothers, aged 4 and 7 years old. The furnishing is all made of solid ash, lightly laquerized in white. It contains two beds, a desk with cabinet and selves, and two more cabinets: a big one as a bookcase and a small between beds.
Tuscany fields was the inspiration of this desk. Totally handmade of pine wood, painted in dark brown colour, expresses our workshop’s opinion about how a classy piece should be.

Jan Plecháč, from the Jiří Pelc studio, is just 27 years old and has just won the Czech Grand Design 2011 award in the “Discovery of the year” category.
“Wooden Textiles” convey a new tactile experience. We are used to experience wood as a hard material; we know the feeling of walking across wooden floors, to touch a wooden tabletop or to feel the bark of a tree. But we usually don’t experience a wooden surface which can be manipulated by touch.
